Song notes:
On the surface, it’s a song named after a familiar comfort. But at its core, it’s about loneliness, searching and most importantly finding kindness.
As I move from the Seacoast region of New Hampshire to north Texas, I am so grateful for all of the kindness shown to me during my time in the community especially from my great friends at 3 Bridges Yoga, Reedmor Books & Brews, and White Heron Tea & Coffee.
I wrote and produced this song in 2025 but didn't get a chance to release it until now. At first I kept hearing it as a country ballad, and it took a while to find its direction. Eventually, the arrangement shifted into a much more soulful and fun R&B headspace. Layering in the horns was one of the many highlights along the way, and they really helped lock it down.
You can listen to “Two Shots of Whiskey" on any of these sites:
P.S. This is just the beginning of a busy month. I have three more new songs finished and staged, and I’ll be releasing them one by one over the next three weekends. Keep your ears open for the next one.
Special Note: For anyone in the Boston area, my former TJ Welch & the Wasted bandmates have an exciting gig coming up at The Middle East in Cambridge on June 5th, performing with Boston area music legends Jon Butcher and Barrence Whitfield. Go check them out!
Thanks so much for following along.
