“Quicksand” has been released.
Music notes:
- The intro of “Quicksand” is meant to highlight the often unheralded but critical roles that bass and percussions play in the delivery of a song. It originally came to me as a country song and building out the intro played an important part in reshaping it into a rock song.
- Ensuring that the acoustic piano had a firm place next to the percussions/bass/guitars and building out a group feel to the vocals were several of the challenges I worked through in making this song.
- “Quicksand” was not written from personal experience. It was inspired by randomly hearing the word ‘quicksand’ one day and it striking me as a great topic for a song.
