“Love You Like The Breeze” has been released.
A special thanks to Jay Carney and Starburst Records for including “Love You Like The Breeze” on their Jazz & Traditional Pop Vocals Spotify playlist which is a wonderful mix of old and new songs.
Song notes:
- Exploring different music genres was one of my goals as I was writing songs for the "Wells III" album. “Love You Like The Breeze” is one of two jazz songs from the album and most definitely falls into the realm of smooth jazz.
- I was set to release this song several weeks ago but ended up pulling it last minute because the recording and mixing quality just weren't there. While I still have so much to learn about producing music, this version is much closer to what I had originally envisioned.
- Electric piano takes the lead in this final song with help from some vocal harmonies, horns and other instruments. The solo section combines electric piano with vocals and was a lot of fun to put together.

Next Up: Well that's a wrap for “Wells III”. Here are a few closing thoughts:
- My biggest challenge by far in making this album was in the production process: recording, mixing and mastering. I experimented and learned a great deal throughout which was fantastic however it led to re-recording many of the songs several times which greatly increased the time it took. I'm continuing to study all facets of production and hope to make some big improvements, especially with vocals, when I record the next set of songs.
- I have already shifted back into learning mode relative to piano playing and composing. Jazz piano continues to be my primary focus of study as it lends itself so well to songwriting across many genres and the theory really helps with the production process.
- Songs ideas, riffs, lyrics and other random thoughts are already being captured for the next set of songs. I will inevitably start to craft those songs in the coming months. My plan right now is to record and release a next wave later this year/early next year.
Hopefully you are able to get out and see some of the many great performers touring this spring and summer across the largest and smallest of venues. Next up for me is Jacob Collier (transformational) and Heather Maloney (inspiring.)
My sincerest thanks to everyone who continues to support this musical work in progress. I am very grateful for your encouragement and feedback. While it is humbling, challenging and frustrating at times, it is also incredibly joyful, inspiring and healing.
