"Look At You” has been released.
Song notes:
- 'Look at You' is a love song born from an unforgettable moment with my mother amidst her Alzheimer's struggle. Standing in her living room, she couldn't form the words, but her face and gesture as she pointed at a picture of my late father profoundly shared the depth of her love. It was a beautiful expression of their enduring bond.
- This is a vocal driven song with an acoustic piano, standup bass and finger snaps layered in for light structure. Recording the multitude of vocal parts was challenging and my hope is that someday I can have “Look At You” performed by a chorus.
- I listened repeatedly to Boys II Men, The Beach Boys and Scala & Kolacny Brothers songs as I prepared to record and mix “Look At You." Studying them made me further appreciate the incredible talent, creativity and nuance woven into their music.
- Hayes Carll ("Help Me Remember" Spotify : Apple) and TJ Welch ("Can't Think Straight" Spotify : Apple) both wrote heartfelt songs about dementia. Both are worthy listens and will strike a chord with anyone with who knows someone with dementia.
You can listen to “Look At You" on any of these sites:
Don't forget that TJ Welch and the Wasted have upcoming gigs at The Square Root in Roslindale on 10/3 and The Midway Cafe in JP on 11/1.
